My
Healing Place Participates in ZACH's Production of Next to Normal
The February 23rd performance of ZACH's presentation of Next
to Normal, the Pulitzer prize winning Broadway musical about
a family's struggle, finding hope, and light following the death
of a child, featured a "talk back" session with the cast
and My Healing Place's Clinical Director Khris Ford. Khris had also
spent a week with the cast of Next to Normal providing
insight into how families grieve after the death of a child.
"What a great chance to wed our work with the arts in our
community! This production offered a rare look at grief within the
family dynamic. It has been a unique opportunity to bring awareness
to those who may not understand the complexities of grief when a
child dies. I'm so grateful to David Steakley and the cast for their
gifts given in Next to Normal." Khris Ford commenting
on her opportunity to work with the Zach-Scott cast during their
weeks of rehearsal of the musical production of Next to Normal.
Our thanks to cast member and My Healing Place Advisory Council
member Jamie Goodwin for helping to make this happen. Thank you
also to Maria and Eric Groten who sponsored this production and
also helped to arrange for our special night at Zach. It was a wonderful
and emotional night.
