KHRIS
FORD, LPC-S, Clinical Director & Founder
In the past 20 years, Khris has counseled with hundreds
of grieving children and adults, trained over 500 mental health
professionals, and led dozens of retreats for bereaved parents.
Prior to her move to Austin in 2002, Khris served as Director of
Program Development and Training at 'Bo’s Place, the Family
and Children’s Grief Center' in Houston, Texas. As a bereaved
parent herself, Khris has experienced first-hand the possibilities
for life that emerge from grief.
KAREN
BELONEY, LPC-Intern
Karen graduate of the Master’s in Counseling Program
at Texas State University. She did her final student practicum at
My Healing Place and her first practicum doing hospice work with
adults, children, and families. She has also worked on the staff
of numerous bereavement camp experiences with children.
CATHERINE
HILL, LPC
Catherine comes to My Healing Place from Louisiana
where she worked as a primary therapist for a suicide pre-postvention
center. Catherine’s background also includes work as an administrator
at the University of Louisiana. Catherine is an individual and family
therapist as well as a co-facilitator of the Beyond Suicide group
at My Healing Place.
CHERYL
MARTIN, LCSW
Cheryl has a Master’s degree from the University
of Texas, with a focus in children and families. She has extensive
experience working with abused children and adolescents in residential
settings and psychiatric hospitals. She works with individual adults
and adolescents, and supervises the social work interns from the
graduate social work school at the University of Texas at Austin.
KIMBERLEY
MEAD, LPC-Intern
Kimberley graduated from St. Edward’s University
with a Master of Arts in Counseling. She works with clients who
have experienced abuse, physical trauma, loss, the death of a loved
one, or are caring for a loved one who is ill. She specializes in
working with individuals or couples, who are struggling with or
examining their adoptive or Foster Care past. Kimberley facilitates
the Expressive Arts group at MHP.
BRITTANY
NEECE, LPC, LMFT-A
Brittany completed her masters degree in counseling
from St. Edwards University in Austin, TX. Brittany works with individuals,
couples, and families and is trained in EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization
& Reprocessing) treatment. Brittany specializes in working with
clients who have experienced significant or traumatic loss, PTSD,
difficult life transitions, and bereavement. She aims to provide
a warm, empathic, and safe environment for clients to help them
experience their own healing process. She is thrilled to be at My
Healing Place, as she has leaned on their support and guidance throughout
her own personal loss in the past.
ASHLEY
UNBEHAGEN, LCSW
Ashley completed her master’s degree in social
work at the University of Texas at Austin. Her work at My Healing
Place includes individual therapy with children and adults, co-facilitation
of one of the support groups for bereaved spouses, and she is the
Coordinator of MHP School Services. Ashley has a special passion
around the intersection of spirituality and grief.
