Support Groups for Children age 5-18 and Adults¨ Parental death ¨ Spousal death ¨ Sibling death ¨ Child death ¨ Divorce ¨ Children/adults who are witnesses to violence ¨ Chronic/terminal illness ¨ Caregivers for those with a chronic /terminal illness Support groups are facilitated by volunteers who have received training focused on grief and loss. Grief, Loss, and Trauma TherapyTherapy for individuals, families, and groups is provided by experienced, licensed therapists with expertise in grief counseling and therapy. Trauma assessment and intervention are also offered. Clients will include those children and adults who have experienced the death of a loved one, witnessed violence of any kind, are dealing with divorce/separation, difficult medical diagnosis, military deployment, incarceration of a loved one, mental illness within the family, abuse, and any other situation experienced as loss. Consultation and TrainingMy Healing Place professional staff will provide customized training programs for educational, medical, and faith-based professionals interested in gaining knowledge and skills related to grief, loss, and trauma. Consultation at times of crisis and special need may also be provided. Retreats & WorkshopsSpecial seminars, workshops, and weekend retreat formats will be offered for adults and teens. These programs offer persons the opportunity to participate in an intensive group experience of transformative group work.

“Little Friends” Group Forming
This is a 6-week grief therapy group for 3 and 4 year olds who have experienced the death of a parent or sibling.
The Little Friends Group is a child/parent (or guardian) experience in which the surviving parent and preschooler attend together. During the 90 minute group time children/parents will meet as a group with the therapist for approximately 30 minutes at the beginning and 15 minutes at the end. During the middle 45 minutes children and parents will go to separate groups. Children will be engaged in developmentally appropriate grief activities while the parents participate in an information session related to children and grief.
