ABOUT MY HEALING PLACE

My Healing Place is a non-profit organization focused on grief and trauma with the mission to assist children and adults as they move from loss to a full life through support, therapy, education, training and consultation. My Healing Place provides individual counseling and group therapy for individuals who have experienced the death of a loved one from illness, accident, suicide, or violence; along with those who have experienced abuse, traumatic accident, divorce or separation, loss of a job or other losses. My Healing Place serves parents, spouses, daughters and sons, brothers and sisters, relatives and friends. The agency’s mission is to help anyone in need, regardless of their ability to pay.

My Healing Place is a not-for-profit organization that obtained its 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status in August of 2007.

LEADERSHIP

Marsha Cook, Executive Director
Marsha joined My Healing Place in January of 2012. Marsha brings with her a strong and successful career of corporate and non-profit leadership experience. She most recently served as the Executive Director of St. David’s Foundation Dental Program. Prior to which she worked for Texas Monthly Magazine as an executive for over twenty years.

Khris Ford, Founder & Clinical Director
My Healing Place is the dream of founder, Khris Ford. She is also a bereaved parent , and it is her personal experience of transformative grief following the death of her son, Stephen, in 1989 that has fueled her passion for work in the field of grief, loss, and trauma. Khris is a licensed professional counselor (LPC) who for the past 20 years has counseled with hundreds of grieving children and adults, trained over 500 mental health professionals, and led dozens of weekend retreats for bereaved parents. Prior to her move to Austin in 2002, Khris served as Director of Program Development and Training at 'Bo’s Place, the Family and Children’s Grief Center' in Houston, Texas. Khris has experienced first-hand the possibilities for life that emerge from grief.
